May 1, 2018: Jettisoning the Adults, Terrorized by Doom, Giant Among Pigmies

----from "The Quotations of Chairman Joe"

The adults are being jettisoned.  The so-called "adults in the room" or, in Senator Bob Corker's (R-Tenn) famous phrase, the day shift at the "adult day care center" that is the White House, are being systematically pushed out as the nattering nabobs in the press tell us that a more 'confident' Digustus, feeling his oats and gaining 'confidence', is fixing to go his own way.

This, of course, is nonsense.  Michael Wolff, in his book "Fire and Fury", informs us that, in the early months of this maladministration, White House chief 'strategist' Steve Bannon warned his reluctant pupil that his cabinet using the 25th amendment to the Constitution could, by mere majority and with the support of the Vice President and a majority of both houses of Congress, remove him from office.  This, in hindsight, explains the bizarre spectacle early last summer when Disgustus, holding his first cabinet meeting, required all attending to kiss his ring.  It was a deeply embarrassing exercise, in which the rich and powerful in private life were forced to submit before the cameras and the nation before an accidental 'president' inferior in every respect—intellectually, ethically, financially, competently to virtually everyone in the room.  Now, sensing that the Mueller investigations are closing in upon him, Disgustus is, like a cornered rat, lashing out at law enforcement while cleaning his cabinet of every vestige of competence.

Competence is, of course, a threat to someone clearly unfit for the office; for one unable to manage a respectable lemonade stand.  Surely, he must know that as those about him witness firsthand the lurching from issue to issue, the lack of focus, the breathtaking ignorance coupled with deeply ingrained contempt for learning, that those working most closely with this idiot will, at some point, grow weary of struggling—in the wake of his daily 'tweet storms'--to right the ship.  At some point, as this man throws one after another overboard, a consensus must form that this incompetent and ethically challenged ass will—in the interest of the survival of both party and country (in that order) --will have to go.  Sensing this, Disgustus has been purging his cabinet and staff of all semblance of competence, substituting loyalty in its stead. '

These are not acts of a 'confident' man.  They are the acts of a man terrorized by impending doom.
He seeks to remove competence lest his own shortcomings become too painfully apparent.  By surrounding himself with ever greater incompetence and venality he hopes to hide in the deep murky waters of the swamp.  That is why he has 'drained the swamp' as promised but drained it into the White House.

The fact is that this insecure little man, occupying the out-sized façade that is "The Donald"knows, despite continual protestations to the contrary, that he is hopelessly in over his head.  He knows that he has no business being anywhere near the White House and is threatened by anyone who does.  This is why he lashes out at his predecessors Democratic or Republican for he must besmirch the historical record lest the people draw fair comparisons.   This is why he surrounds himself with people like John Bolton Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Ben Carson, Betsy DeVoss, Steve Bannon, Scott Pruitt and a host of others.  That way he can play Gulliver to the Lilliputians; a giant among pygmies.
