"In the trees out sons stand naked
through the walls our daughters cry
see their tears in the rainfall"
----U2 "Mothers of the Disappeared".
Nearly two weeks ago, Friday, February 4, the ReSCUMlickan National Committee issued a statement in which the party censured Congressman Adam Kensinger and Representative Liz Cheney for joining the select committee to investigate the insurrection. This rebuke, it should be noted, was characterized by some in the press as being a victory of sorts for the so-called 'moderates' in the ReSCUMlickan camp inasmuch as there appeared to be a serious movement to oust them from the party altogether. The pursuit of truth it appears, at least among the initiated, threatens to set you free.
Citing Saint Reagan's dictum that “thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow ReSCUMlickan', the committee singled out the two for near banishment because seeking the truth threatens party unity. The party, as Orwell foretold, is now supreme. Actually like everything else the pundits, former Republican Joe Scarborough among them, got it, once again, wrong.
The 11th commandment, as it has come to be known, against criticizing a fellow member of the party predates Reagan by at least a decade and half. It is an example of what Republicans used to call their 'principles', and first articulated by former Michigan Governor George Romney.
This makes this latest
foray into 'conservative' madness all the more ironic in that the
chairwoman of the ReSCUMlickan National Committee is none other than
Ronna McDaniel. Who is Ronna McDaniel, one might ask? She is none
other than the granddaughter of George Romney.
She used to go by the name of Ronna Romney McDaniel when her uncle Mitt was the party's standard bearer, but when it became abundantly clear how much our Caesar Disgustus hates her uncle the politically expedient thing to do was to scrub the reference. Hence the middle moniker is been dropped. So much for “principles”.
It is quite an indication of just how servile the ResCUMlickan Party has become to the only plank now remaining from its once vaunted platform. Total obsequiousness to the 'dear leader', the potentate, the once and future Caesar Disgustus. Indeed, so servile have grown adults become to this carnival barker that his movement has now ripped apart families, and soon the nation. The Romney's are a exhibit One.
Mitt promptly issued a statement condemning the RNC resolution declaring it an embarrassment and an affront to every patriotic American. Indeed. George Romney never meant his dictum to be so construed. Ronna's grandfather is spinning in his grave.
The press, in ensuing coverage, has had a field day. “Legitimate Political Discourse” eh? A statement that boldly defends openly brown-shirt tactics as a means of bringing political pressure. What next fellow ReSCUMlickans? A return to the terrorism of the Klan? Pulling people from their homes? Placing armed militias around polling places? Concentration camps? Armed thugs silencing the bleating of the lambs?
The RNC has since tried to walk back the open and obvious implications of this bizarre position trying, as it might, to differentiate between those who engaged in open violence with those who merely 'paraded' through the Capitol and those who were mere bystanders. But the milquetoast effort to thereby correct the record is much the less convincing. By openly declaring that an armed mob, itself a creation of tRUMP and his minions, in service of a plot to overthrow the duly elected government of the United States to be engaged in 'legitimate political discourse' is to openly declare oneself a fascist in service of a villain.
Sieg Heil! One can almost see the coming torch-light parades; once an almost feel upon the paving stones the cadence of hob-nail boots; one can almost hear screams in the night.
Merrick Garland, where are the FUCKING INDICTMENTS????
An' Br'er Putin, he jus' laugh and laugh.
Indict, convict, imprison.
