September 4, 2018: Persona Non Grata, Two Funerals and a Wedding, Repulsive National Embarrassment

Caesar Disgustus has become a persona non grata; a stench in the forum; a pole-cat at a barn dance.”
----from “The Quotations of Chairman Joe”

That was the judgment of Ashley Parker, writing recently in The Washington Post.

Less than two years into his first term, Trump has often come to occupy the role of pariah—both unwelcome and unwilling to perform the basic rituals and ceremonies of the presidency, from public displays of mourning to cultural ceremonies” (1)

Not only has he been dis-invited to the funerals of former First Lady Barbara Bush, and now Senator John McCain, but he was pointedly struck from the attendance list at Royal wedding. Indeed when he did visit earlier in the year the trip was downgraded from a 'State' to a 'Working' meeting and even then he managed to make an ass of himself. No, Disgustus cannot be invited into polite company.

Moreover, he has shunned throwing out balls on opening day, a once revered presidential ritual. He has been a no-show at the Kennedy center celebrations, for he cannot abide anyone celebrating anything that is not orange. He has faced continued rebuffs from athletes, forcing cancellations of White House celebrations of national championships. He has failed to go to one single 'war' zone and meet the troops. He has failed to celebrate or commemorate anything or anyone that is not named Donald J. Trump. He is scum, momentarily triumphant.

The truth is that where once he may have been—even grudgingly—welcome, nearly half the country now wants him gone. For Disgustus to move, as any previous president has moved, would now most certainly invite catcalls and rage.

He is alone now, holed up with his cheeseburger and his anger and, as his stomach roils and his mind rages, he finds himself increasingly isolated. Nowhere was this more evident than his 'tweetstorms' as the birdbrain took to tweeting, alone in his limousine and on his golf course, as the nation mourned the passing of a statesman. While the nation turned its grieving soul to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the occupant was nowhere to be found.

We’re talking about a president who can’t even go and participate in a ritual where presidents are usually welcomed, and that is one of the consequences of his having defined the presidency in a sectarian way(,)” notes presidential historian Tim Naftali, “It is a tearing of the fabric of the presidency that he’s not invited, but I understand why he’s not invited because he’s personalized the presidency in a way no previous occupant of the presidency has done,” Naftali said. “Donald Trump has never accepted the fact that he is the head of state.” (2)

Disgustus not only, as Hillary pointed out in the debates, does not have the temperament to be president, he also has no understanding of what the office entails. He lacks the basic countenance for the office—both the aura and the aroma for the office. Not only does his boorishness offend, but also the stench that telegraphs his every move. He is a repulsive national embarrassment. No one, it is clear, welcomes this pole cat to their barn dance.

And, as he tears away at the fabric of the presidency....

Br'er Putin, he jus' laugh and laugh”

Impeach and Imprison.
